Black Lives Matter.
Over the past week, we in the CCPA have been following the racial protests across the country and feel angry, saddened, and frustrated at the racial injustices that continue to be committed against the Black community. We recognize our role in dismantling systems of racial inequity, and have been listening, reflecting, and putting plans into motion to ensure that this statement is more than sentiment, but a public commitment to concrete action.
As a career center, we are uniquely positioned to uplift Black students as they enter the workforce, to provide educational opportunities for Black students, non-Black students of color, and White students to identify ways of enacting systematic change beyond the Haverford campus through their work, and to continue to encourage our employer partners to make racial diversity, equity, and inclusion strategic priorities.
Moving forward, we commit to:
- Engage in ongoing discussions and planning to design programs and services that center and contribute to racial equity. We will have more information to share soon. We invite those who would like to join the conversation to contact us at email@example.com.
- Conduct an audit of our programs and practices to identify and address areas of inequity, including racial trends and gaps in student, alumni, and employer engagement.
- Strengthen our equity-focused programming and resources while also expanding our offerings to highlight the career and professional experiences of Black students and alumni and foreground pathways to social justice work across all sectors and disciplines.
- Enhance our career education offerings by featuring existing resources for Black students and students from marginalized identities while also developing new resources for students to identify socially-just and equity-minded companies and workplaces.
In continued support and solidarity. #blacklivesmatter
