Alumni Connections This Year (So Far): By the Numbers
—
286 Connections Were Made via Haverford Connect

Richard Lyon ’68 and Gabriel Oppler ’17 connected in Bozeman, MT after meeting through Haverford Connect.
From a First-Year student, tentative Physics and Computer Science major:
“I have been using Haverford Connect for a while and have found it amazing. Recently, I contacted an alum through Haverford Connect and had an hour-long conversation with him, as if we knew each other for years! Also, I just got matched with an alum working in a career I am interested in through the Extern Program (managed through Haverford Connect). I see Haverford Connect like a bridge connecting students and alumni together thereby enrichening the entire Haverford community.”
Students- Log into Haverford Connect using your Haverford credentials and access our strong alumni network. Reach out to alumni about industry information, application help, and more.
Alumni-Activate your account to connect with other alumni and allow students to reach out to you. Post in the “Hire a Ford” group to help connect Fords with open positions at your organization.

Alumni- We will be reaching out to some of you soon to help us find internships, create micro-internships, and lead learning opportunities for current students whose summer plans have been interrupted by COVID-19.

41 Externs Shadowed Alumni in Their Workplace

Iris Xu ’22 with Kurt Ryden ’88 and Julie Min Chayet ’91 at her Winter Break Externship at the Bank of America, Private Bank, NY.
This year we transitioned Externship applications and matching to Haverford Connect to streamline the Program. We had a total of 41 students shadow 30 alumni over the Winter Break. This new system worked so well that we are planning on inviting a small group of alumni to help us pilot the first-ever Summer Externship Program!
Students- Stay in touch with alumni by exploring the community in Haverford Connect. Search by “Help Topic” to reach alumni based on how they have offered to help students.
Alumni- Make sure you have logged in to Haverford Connect and set your contact preferences and help topics! Network with other alumni by exploring the community and check your notifications for messages from students!

70+ Jobs and Internships Shared with the CCPA

Maya Ahmed ’20 in front of MKThink, an architecture firm founded by Mark Miller ’84.
When alumni share jobs or internships with the CCPA, we work together to list the opportunity in Haverford Handshake. Then, we add the special label Alumni Referred so that students know to pay special attention to these!
Students- Search Haverford Handshake and check back in the Hire a Ford Haverford Connect page for current opportunities.
Alumni- Help us increase this number by emailing your organization’s job or internship postings to lreiter@haverford.edu and posting them in the Hire a Ford page in Haverford Connect.

Thank You!
As we said above, the CCPA relies on alumni volunteers. We appreciate their commitment to supporting Haverford students and look forward to hopefully collaborating in the future!
