Last April, the pilot of the CCPA’s Career Closet Open House brought over 90 students to our office for a day of “shopping.” We were thrilled and overwhelmed by the generosity of the Haverford Community, who contributed to the project as we collected items during a two week donation period. With close to 500 articles of clothing, it was more than we ever expected! Starting at 10 am on a Friday, students were able to browse and try on various professional clothing. Because of the enormous amount of donations, each student was able to take up to 5 clothing items. Students were excited and our halls were filled “shoppers” as soon as our doors opened (considering Havertime plus 10 minutes).
The goal of the event was to help students build their professional wardrobes, and guarantee their confidence and success as they embark on their summer journeys. We plan to do this event again in the future, although we may have cleaned out the entirety of Haverford community’s wardrobe 😉
Thank you to the staff who helped in our promotion and planning of this event. This truly felt like a community effort and we could not have done it without you!
