About
This summer, I will be interning with the Women’s Law Project in Philadelphia through a Center for Peace and Global Citizenship Self-Designed Domestic Internship. The mission of the Women’s Law Project (www.womenslawproject.org) is “to create a more just and equitable society by advancing the rights and status of all women throughout their lives.”
During my internship, I will be working as a telephone counselor with the project’s Telephone Counseling and Consumer Education Service. As a counselor I will provide callers with information about: child support and custody separation and divorce, domestic, physical, and sexual violence, employment rights, reproductive rights, legal rights of LGTBQ parents, housing, and welfare.
I will also be working on the organization’s new project at the Domestic Violence Intake Unit at the Philadelphia Family Court’s Domestic Relations Branch. Additionally, I will help the WLP with research that they can use in their lobbying efforts.
