Working with UNAWE (Universe Awareness) in Leiden, The Netherlands
I will be working at the International headquarters of UNAWE, an organization that aims to teach children worldwide about astronomy to connect them to the greater wonders of the Universe. UNAWE has branches in over 35 countries, and works primarily with children ages 4-10 in underprivileged communities. As a growing organization, their current goal is to become more visible to gain more recognition and support for their programs. As an intern, I will be working in their international office at the Leiden Observatory, working on website development, publication editing, social networking connections and more. This summer, my aim is to see how this international organization functions, and how they adapt their curricula around the world to connect young children to the Universe.
