Friends Historical Association

The Friends Historical Association, with its office in the Quaker Collection, has accepted an invitation to join with the North Carolina Friends Historical Society. Members of both organizations will now benefit from a wider Quaker perspective in scholarly publications concerning the history of the Society of Friends.

The Friends Historical Association has been devoted to the study, preservation and publication of material relating to the history of the Society since 1873. FHA has published Quaker History since 1906. The journal is available on Johns Hopkins’ online and full text presence, Project Muse.

The North Carolina Friends Historical Society has published The Southern Friend for almost thirty years. This journal will be available via EBSCO within the year, however, the perspective of Friends in the southern US will now be incorporated into the editorial mission of the Friends Historical Association.

The newly merged organization has over 900 members consisting of individuals, libraries, Quaker meetings and academic institutions. Contact fha@haverford.edu for more information.

Ann – This is wonderful news – Once the paperwork is together, I’ll check out membership for part-time faculty.
I know the Southern arm has a wonderful library (read about it online).
Best wishes, and hope to see you this week or next week.
