You had a much more exciting and patriotic 4th than I did! I cleaned my kitchen, did some work on my research paper, drove to Arlington, and watched an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer (seriously) with my brother and cousin.

Falling out of gardens was a problem in Peru, as well. I didn't comment on your last post, but reading about the vertical gardens made me laugh because I spent five weeks in Peru saying, "What on earth made them think they could plant anything there?!" Also, Boom Boom Boom was a very popular song with my 4th graders in Costa Rica, who could pronounce all the words but had no idea what they were saying. I pretended I didn't know the words either when they asked me--I was not going to be the one to explain sex to rural Costa Rican 9-year-olds.

Speaking of Costa Rica, I spoke with my family on Saturday! It had been over a year since the last time I spoke with them (I'm a BAD gringa daughter!), and it was so nice. And I'll see them in four weeks!!!

I could have written all this to you in an e-mail, but I got started on the comment. I miss you and I can't wait to read the next installment! Lots and lots of love.
