Hello to all! We have sampled all that we are able to (for this trip!) and will ship the samples up north tomorrow morning. With any luck, they will arrive safely and soon we will get to admire and adore them from the air-conditioned lab.
Today’s adventure was a little more sugar-filled, as you will see below
At one point, Helen wanted to play the game “Name that plant” and asked us what the stuff outside the window was. After wondering if it was corn for a while, the following conversation occurred
Shelby: Is it watermelon?
Helen: No! It’s not watermelon!
Shelby: Is it cucumber?
Helen: No! It’s not cucumber! What did you eat earlier?
Shelby: A donut
Helen: And what is a donut made of?
Helen: And what is jelly made of?
Actually, Elmer’s Island was closed because of oil clean-up Monday-Thursday (figures), so we decided to try the nearby fort site
So we only did two sites today. Very sad but then, Louisiana beaches are pretty gross. I think Fort Pickens and Ship Island are my favorites for this trip, so clearly we saved the best for last. Time for another delicious New Orleans dinner, exploring the city tomorrow, then the flight back to Philly! Goodbye, Southern Coast!
