Hey ya’ll!

OMG April Fools is right around the corner (TUESDAY) and I can’t wait to prank everybody that I know!

This weekend’s weather is looking pretty decent (in the mid 50s). The only problem is that it’s going to be rainy and humid… so make sure to carry around your umbrella and anti-humidity hairspray! Although there aren’t that many events this week, the ones that are going on are poppin’. Here are this weekend’s events <3

The GIF of the week: “Heavy Breathing Cat”

Friday, March 28, 2014:

The Seven Person Pyramid High Wire Act

7:00pm-9:00pm, Squash Court #2

** At first I thought it was a trapeze show in which people would walk on a wire and jump through flaming hoops. Then I googled it and found out that it’s a play about bats and a dance concert….. so if you’re into bats and underground theater, you should stop by! Also the poster is pretty cool, so you should go just for that. #artsy #hipster #alumni

Ableism Keynote Panel: Mia Mingus and Carl Sigmund *Part of (Dis)Ability Awareness Week

7:30pm-9:30pm, Stokes Aud

** Educate yourself! #edumacate #oooooo

Saturday, March 29, 2014:

Haverford’s Got Talent

7:00pm – 9:00pm, Marshall Aud

**From singing to dancing to comedy this talent show is gonna be awesome. It’s like a 4th grade talent show except that these kids got talent.  Also the MCs (Brand-on Kelly and Stephen Pro-fetta) will probably steal the show with their raunchy comedy. Also the only thing Cruz has been talking about for the past month is this show so… please go… it’s his baby. #SimonCowell #wheredreamsdontcometrue #Cruz’sbaby #funny #startedfromthebottom #JinandJuice

Fro Life – Fro Choice

7:00pm – 9:00pm, Founders Hall

** If you like hair and are looking for some tips on how to love your hair then you should stop by. From fashion show to merchandise station (maybe they’ll be selling anti-humidity hairspray) to a panel discussion… it’s all about HAIR (not the Lady Gaga song doe). #hair #Haaallaaaah #itsgoingdown #letitgo #youdoyou #youdohair #hairdoyou

Enjoy the weekend but don’t get too Creigh!

Who will survive to Nerf another day?

Hello Fellow Fordians!

Halloween is coming up and there is no better way to get hyped for it than by playing Human Vs. Zombies. Sophomore, Casey Falk, got the idea to bring this game to Haverford when his friend raved about how  it was “the best and most exciting part of his year”.

What are the Rules of this super fun game?

~Well, they are quite simple. The game starts with almost everyone being on the human team, and they’ll have to wear a bandana on their leg or arm in order to be identified. A few individuals will be randomly chosen to be the “Original Zombies”,and will wear a bandana around their head at all times. The objective of the zombies is to tag out humans every 48 hours or else they are out of the game.  The goal of the humans is to survive the zombie invasion (not get tagged). There will be designated safe zones, such as buildings, in which everyone will be safe from attacks.

If I am a Human, can I protect myself from a Zombie?

~Yep! Everyone in the human team will be given a sock, which you can be thrown at a Zombie. The Zombie will then become stunned and won’t be allowed to participate in the game for 15 minutes. OR if you think you are not skilled in the arts of throwing, you can use a Nerf gun that can be bought at CVS.

Another fun thing that one can do in the game is create a group of Humans for safety (like in ‘The Walking Dead’). So you should tell your Customs Group and/or friends to join you in this once in a lifetime adventure.

BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE:

Guess who’s already signed up to take part in this game? Deans (Donna Mancini, Theresa M.Tensua, Michael Martinez, Steven Watter), Lilly Lavner, Lory Roth and DAN WEISS!! Yes that is right, you will get the opportunity to convert one (or more) of these great folks into a Zombie and then proceed to hit them with a sock/dart! They won’t mind as long as it is in the name of ‘friendly fun’ (aka please be delicate).

In conclusion, you should register because it will be FUN!

Dan Weiss wants to see you on Founders Green on Monday, September 16th from 2pm-3pm! He’s got donuts.

Hey Haverford! We have a new president and he wants to get to know us. Throughout the year Students’ Council will offer a variety of different opportunities for Haverford students to talk with President Weiss (henceforth, Dan), about different issues and aspects of Haverford. Some of the conversations we host will be more formal and serious and some will be fun opportunities to meet Dan. Monday, September 16th, between 2 and 3pm we will be hosting a Donuts with Dan event on Founders Green.

If you are looking to relax and take a break from work, come on out and join us. If you do have class, don’t worry we will be holding more events like these in the future at different times. We will also be holding raffles at this event to sign up for smaller lunches and/or dinners with Dan throughout the year. If you can’t make the event, but want to sign up for a raffle please submit your name, number and email address to sc@haverford.edu.

Don’t forget to invite your friends. Hope to see you there!

You can’t beat springtime at Haverford in terms of biking weather. But you can end up with flat tires, wonky brakes, or some other breakdown after you bring your bike out of hibernation.

That’s where the Fixit comes to the rescue!

Dero Fixit

The answer to all your bike maintenance needs, right here on campus!

Brought to you by Students’ Council and the CER’s Greening Haverford Fund, the Fixit is a public bicycle repair stand equipped with a pump, tire levers, flat and Phillips head screwdrivers, flat wrenches, and metric Allen wrenches.

Now that it’s so beautiful outside, you don’t have to worry about borrowing a pump or going into Ardmore to get your bike in working order, just head to the south lot:

Fixit Location

The Fixit is located between the fine arts building and the GIAC, adjacent to the south lot.
