superbowl

Hello Fords and sports fans alike, with the Super Bowl just around the corner we wanted to give you a few insights to places you can tune in to the Broncos and the Seahawks facing off this Sunday. Kick off is at 6:30 pm, and FAB is hosting their yearly superbowl party at the coop. At 6pm there will be wings for all members of the community, and the coop will also be open and serving food (so you don’t have to run and grab dinner during half time).

Feel more like watching the game with suite-mates? You can still use the card below to fill out prop bets and make the evening a little more interesting.

Either way, it looks like sunday will be a great game. If you have any other fun traditions or activities to do while watching the Super Bowl, feel free to post them below!

Go Broncos!

Among the many fun things to do this weekend with friends and family there is a gem of an event located on Leeds Green from 1:30-4. Oktoberfest is a collaborative event planned by the Student Activities Office and FAB to bring a number of groups together to provide one large, relaxing, fun evening of food, music and activities!

Student Bands include the Cellar Doors (1:45 pm) and the Blank Sextet (2:30 pm), both talented groups of students with the perfect soundtrack for the afternoon.

Food includes Sausages of all assortments (FAB), Baked Beans and Homemade Granola (Culinary House), Apple Bread (Quaker House) and more! (hint hint: I think someone mentioned a rootbeer keg!)c

Just on the other side of Leeds, the Women’s Soccer Team will be playing Swarthmore at Walton, and on the Swan field Lacrosse will be strutting their stuff as well at 1 pm! Come grab a bite to eat before or after the games, and support the Haverford Teams! Just after the event ends, mens Soccer will also be playing on Walton.

We can’t wait to see the 4th Oktoberfest through, and hope to see you all there!

Hey Haverfordians!

Missing home cooked meals? Here is an easy 3 minute Mac N Cheese from thekitchn.com for the days where the hot bar might not be your calling (or the line is just a little too long).

What you need:
1 Scoop of pasta from the Pasta bar
3-4 slices your choice of cheese (ripped up)
1/4 cup of Milk (about 3 seconds at the milk dispenser)

1. Put pasta and milk in bowl, ripping cheese up over the noodles. Give everything a quick stir.

2. Microwave on 30 second intervals, removing to mix cheese and milk in with the noodles in between.

3. Optional! Waiting for the Mac n Cheese to cool down for a longer period of time with make the sauce thicken up.

Spice it up! As always the salad bar is a puthera of great add-ins and toppings! Consider adding any of these along with the milk and cheese. Diced onions, diced peppers, diced tomatoes, leftover meat (shredded or cubed), a few tablespoons of salsa, 1/4 teaspoon dried mustard, 1/2 teaspoon chili powder, 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika.

Happy Eating

Last friday night, a bus full of Haverford students traveled to see the famous Flying Squirrel, Gabby Douglas, as well as her other Gold Metalist companions at the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. The arena was packed while famous gymnasts Jordyn Wiber, Aly Raisman, Gabby douglas, Kalya Ross, and McKayla Maroney performed the routines that secured their Gold Metals in the 2012 Olymipics.
