future trees, in need of help
Tuesday, October 11th, 2011I recently came across this event (thanks PHENND updates email!). The Pennsylvania Horticultural Society is looking for volunteers to help plant many many baby trees along a stream in chester county. I think I’m going to go! The date is November 5th (yup, that’s a Saturday), morning time.
For the quick facts of the event (from the event’s webpage itself):
what: Chester County Riparian Tree-Planting Event
when: Saturday, November 5th, 9-1 am (rain date: November 6th)
why: to plant 1,530 small trees on a lovely hillside near the headwaters of the West Branch Brandywine Creek
ok, but why: These trees will protect water quality, prevent erosion, and provide habitat for fish, birds, and other wildlife for years to come.
who to contact: Barley Van Clief, 215-988-8793, bvanclief@pennhort.org to RSVP and learn more about the event
where: 490 Apple Grove Road, Unionville, PA 19375
