Where They’re Headed: Joe Horowitz ’14

Joe Horowitz ’14 will be following his childhood dreams this fall by enrolling in the Disney College Program, a paid internship that gives college students and recent graduates the opportunity to work at Walt Disney World, in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., and take courses in professional development. He will find out which of the park’s attractions he has been placed at upon his arrival in September.

The biology major says that his plans were strongly influenced by Haverford’s liberal arts philosophy, which guides students to take courses outside their majors and comfort zones. “Taking this philosophy into the real world,” Horowitz says, “I realized it was important for me to complement my phenomenal Haverford academic education with additional important training for any career.” He hopes that the Disney position will help him develop the interpersonal and leadership skills he’ll need in his hoped-for future career as a doctor. While attending the Disney College Program, he will also be applying to medical school.
