In addition to Varsity Athletics, Club Sports are important at Haverford. There are currently six Club Sports offered for a total of nine teams of varying intensity and commitment.
I arrived at Haverford hoping to continue Badminton and interested in exploring Crew, both Club Sports at Haverford. My Customs Person (CP) happened to be one of the Badminton Co-Captains. Practices were twice a week without any set drills (while I was there), and it was a great way to relax and de-stress during the week and to forget about academics for a while. I had only hoped to explore Crew, but I quickly became very involved. Whereas Badminton practiced twice a week for 2 hours, Crew had practices 4-5 times a week for 2.5-3 hours (including transportation) and participation was extremely important.
I really enjoyed both Badminton and Crew though I ended up devoting myself solely to Crew. I particularly like the team aspect and interactions that Crew offers and the opportunity to learn something new. My experience with the two teams also illustrates the varying intensities of Club Sports.
