The mans tee shirt saying the South shall rise again. That was meaning the South Belfast Proddy Boys shall rise again, and as you can see the little girl has a red white and blue band pole supporting the cultral Protestant parade.
You also state you got nerous and went home!!! How did you know there was 50 cultural bands and it took very long to pass.
Your points seem very one sided.
As for the kid dressed in arabs clothing whats wrong with a bit of fun.

Hey Meghan, I was just reading your blog and it seems that you are doing a thesis very similar to mine! I am looking at the spatial and architectural manifestations of the troubles. I am still at the researching stage of my thesis like you. I am currently doing a postgraduate masters course at the Royal College of Art in London, but my mother is from Northern Ireland and a lot of my relative still live there. I am going to be heading over to Ireland next week and thought it would be interesting to talk to someone researching the same area. Let me know if you are free anytime next week. I'm also looking at the British Army watchtower structures that were used during the troubles. So I might be travelling to South Armagh as well as visiting the murals, new developments, previos sites of conflict etc of Belfast. Anyway, my email address is alihesk@htomail.com if you want to get in touch. If not, then good luck with the research!

Best Wishes,
Ali Hesketh
