Opening went great »

So I’m hosting this event

You should come.

Haverford College calendar entry

“My school. My neighborhood. My home. My life.”
A photo exhibition from Ghana and the U.S.
An art show happening simultaneously here and there, linked up in parallel exhibitions via Skype: photos of “home” by students at Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges; children in Ghana; and Ghanaian artists Larry Otoo, Wiz Kudowor, George Hughes, Kofi Dawson, and Serge Clottey – exhibited both in Haverford, USA and Accra, Ghana.

Opening and discussion panel Thursday, 12/2, 4:30-7:30  – with Prof. Jesse Shipley, and Ghanaian food and music (what more could you want)
Skye Chat to Ghana Saturday, 12/4, 2:30 – see their parallel exhibit
(And let me say, it was a challenge finding a space, but we finally worked it out. A big thank you goes out to the DuBois Memorial Centre for hosting us.)
It all goes down in the Drop Shot Space in Haverford’s Ryan basement (in the creepy but wonderful old squash courts)

Photographs for sale to benefit the Junior Art Club in Ghana. Available at the exhibit and by contacting GhanaArt@gmail.com. $15-$200.
Exhibition runs through Dec. 14.
Supported by Haverford’s Hurford Humanities Center, Haverford’s Center for Peace & Global Citizenship, the Camera Shop in Bryn Mawr, Aku’s Kitchen in Philadelphia, and the W.E.B. DuBois Memorial Centre in Accra, Ghana.
Shout out to Duncan for designer the poster.
P.S. I picked up one of the photos today, a huge one by George Hughes that will take up the whole back wall…it looks awesome.
P.P.S. The Ghanaian food is going to be really good. I went to Aku’s kitchen on Saturday, and that lady can cook up a storm. Get ready for some tasty jollof, fried plantains, and other treats. Aku might even make a guest appearance at the opening.
