Daniel Kojo came to Haverford today. This matters because he has a painting series called “Afronauts.” Black aliens? Ok, the connection to Pope.L’s impending ET^2 performastravaganzathon is too uncanny not to mention it here. Why is this such a money metaphor right now? I like it, but I don’t know if this Kojo guy makes it work for me beyond the cool sound of the word”Afronaut,” which Slate tells us is a big deal in music now. I can’t decide if this is a trendy fantasy that’s about to get played out or if it will stick around.

Lil’ Wayne on rap rivals: “I just eat them for supper, get in my spaceship, and hover.”

We had a meeting and I was really nervous because I didn’t read Sam’s powerpoint before we presented, and it had all these sound effects so I laughed when I was supposed to be serious. We made a movie about an email Harrell sent us and one Sam sent back starring Louis from the Digital Copy Center in Stokes as Harrell.

One other funny thing that happened was the meeting was streamed live online, and when we were setting up James’ friend was already watching it and he sent James a text message saying the picture is blurry and turn up the sound. I spilled a glass of water, Jane grossed me out with some hair, we had a lot of ideas, it started to rain, and that was our meeting.

Come Saturday, there are going to be seventy or so pleasantly surprised, or completely confused Haverford students.    The one thing that they will have in common:  All will be recipients of an ornate, loving, anonymous Valentine’s Day Card.    Will you get the golden ticket?  To be continued…

As you may not know, E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial is going to be a big part of Pope.L’s upcoming performance. In preparation for the big day, I’ve been doing some research on Steven Spielberg, watching some of his movies and generally getting familiar with the material.
