How to make a comfort station pt. 1
Today I went down to Fabric Row on South 4th St. to pick up some materials for Nao’s talismans. Ever-trusty Liz Turner came along as my unofficial unpaid among friends photographer. Here’s what I got.
I got 10 yards of velcro at Pennsylvania Fabric Outlet.
I got 6 yards of plain cotton fabric at Jack B.’s
I also searched for a buncha belt loops in a sea of really cool buttons.
Found them!
Will cotton + velcro + hearts + tchotchkes + Nao magic = comfort? Will it = art? Can these talismans be sentimental, pragmatic, hideous, and beautiful all at once? I’m excited to find out. Come tomorrow to be part of “How to make a comfort station pt. 2: sweatshop in James House edition” (see Robin’s post below for more info)
P.S. – I also bought $50 worth of dollhouse accessories (read: mini bibles, grandfather clocks, carrots). Wait ’til next post and you can die of cuteness.
