First Day

Monday, June 7th, 2010

It’s been my experience that first days at anything (school, work, marriage, etc.) are either relatively easy or relatively hard. Either you’re just getting your feet wet or you have to completely submerge yourself. I think our first day when definitely more on the easy side, with us getting a comprehensive view of Amity. We got to tour their NGO office, and the school for autistic children, and the bakery they run to provide jobs to mentally disabled people.  I had no idea that this organization was so expansive and was reaching out in so many ways. But as for the first day, it was still relatively easy – we weren’t yet at the stage of actually getting involved, it was just our first day and we were just shown around.  But even so, I’ll admit that I’m almost completely terrified of tomorrow, the day when we actually begin what we came here do.
